
MELVIN YEN
Founder of A Stage Theatre, Producer, Playwright, Director, and Arts Administrator
As a theater producer, director, playwright, and arts administrator, I bring a wealth of experience to the table. Currently, I am a General Management Fellow at Playwrights Horizons. I recently earned my M.A. in Performing Arts Administration from NYU.
My professional background includes working in the producing track at TBD Theatricals on Broadway and U Theatre in Taiwan. I also served as a Creative Design Fellow at Production Lab at NYU.
I have an extensive list of theater credits, including notable productions such as "A Christmas Carol" on Broadway in 2022, "The Trees" Off-Broadway in 2023, "Regretfully, So the Birds Are" Off-Broadway in 2023, "Wet Brain" Off-Broadway in 2023, as well as "Hairspray the Musical," "Legally Blonde the Musical," "Chicago the Musical," "River Journey" at the National Theater of Taiwan, "Meeting with Bodhisattva," "Traveling in Light," and more.
In addition to my theatrical pursuits, I hold a bachelor's degree in business from Zhejiang University and have gained valuable entrepreneurial experiences. Currently, I am the founder and artistic director of A Stage Theatre, a New York-based Mandarin theatre company, where I am dedicated to bringing exceptional original Mandarin stories and performances to New York audiences.
